I headed for the south pier, managed to walk out the subway station accidentally (rather than catching the connection I should have caught) but got some food in a nearby cafe/deli. By food I mean a cinamon bun as big as my brain (but messier) and an iced coffee. I hate coffee. It wasn’t intentional but the girl couldn’t understand me. To be fair I didn’t make her life easy as I hadn’t a clue what I wanted. It was a bit confusing.

I made it to south pier and got a ferry to Staton Island. Its a free ferry that goes right by the Statue of Liberty. Perfect for grabbing a few snaps. Staton Island wasn’t really worth seeing so I walked off and right back on the next one leaving 60 seconds later.

I came back and walked through Wall street. Saw the NY stock exchange, the Trump Tower and Tiffany’s and wandered on to Pier 11 because it has a nice up and down the river.

Walked back and found a ‘pharmacy’ – the closest thing to a super market. Had a walk around it and picked a few things up. Noticed a guy was grabbing some of the packet cake type things and I asked if they were any good. He said “Yeah, I love them. I can’t get enough of them” and walked off. I grabbed a couple and he walked past, sans cakes. He’d just shoved them down his trousers. He went on to say he lost his job and “a man has got to eat” and said have a good day. I laughed and left him to it.

I tried to find the Thai place Eric and Melissa told me about but I couldn’t find it. It turned out I was on the wrong road but I did find another and it was lovey. The lady kept giving me ice cream – what’s that all about?

I wanted to catch a baseball game so bought tickes for next tuesday to see the Yankess vs Red Sox. It should be fun.
